Florida Man January 11th – Florida man survives Boeing plane crash
On January 11th 2019 a Florida man became the luckiest man alive as he survived a devastating plane crash that killed 9 others in the Amazon rainforest. They were flying a chartered flight in a small commercial aircraft when a flock of birds suddenly struck through the engines and quickly downed the plane.
The Florida man, now named as Chad Ortiz from Miami, survived the crash alone after plunging through an external window and being caught in the trees before passing out. The Florida man, Chad, is an army veteran who flew several aircrafts in the US navy before retiring with PTSD aged 29.
How he was found
The Florida man was found west of Manaus by a group of locals on a fishing trip, after he trekked with broken ribs and arms for 9 days. When we caught up with Chad we asked how he managed to make it that far, to which he said “god guided me, and I trusted him”. It seems almost a miracle that the Florida man made it out that far with no food or other resources but it’s thought that his military training aided him.
Media coverage
At the Florida man’s request the inquiry and crash were kept as private as possible with only few news stations covering it due to the nature of his PTSD. The Florida man wanted to avoid re-living any of the horrors he saw through the Amazon rainforest and the difficulties he faced, and refused to retell the story further. The US government awarded the Florida man $424,000 USD in reparation for his service and heroics to pay for his health care and recovery.
Our thoughts
Wow, this Florida man is one of the luckiest men alive, it is very rare that you find someone surviving a plane crash and even rarer when it is a single person.
